Lutsen Resort has been a tradition for families for years.  With plenty of lodging options, dining choices and endless outdoor activities, guests of all ages return year after year.

Romantic Getaways
Lutsen Resort is the perfect spot to curl up by a cozy fire, to enjoy a candlelit dinner and spend time together watching Lake Superior's North Shore!

Guest Activity Programs 
The resort outdoor recreations staff provide a wide variety of complimentary adult, family and children’s programs to its guests.  There are kid’s camps, naturalist programs, guided hikes, guides snowshoe tours and xc ski tours, sea-kayak instruction and tours, flyfishing classes and much more!

Golf Vacation
Lutsen maintains a complimentary Par-3, 9 hole golf course on its property.  It’s a great place to practice your game.  Parents love the opportunity to take children out at no cost and beginning golfers love the “no pressure” situation.  Adjacent to the resort, Superior National Golf Course offers a spectacular 27 holes of golf.

Sea Kayaking
Lutsen Resort offers sea kayak instruction and tours to its guest throughout the summer. Sign up ahead of time, as they are popular.

Swimming Pools
We have two pool complexes. Sea Villa guests enjoy the new recreation building
with indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and sundeck. The Main Lodge has the largest indoor pool in the area, a whirlpool and sauna.

Lake Watching
Watching Lake Superior is rated the #1 favorite activity by our guests. Sit on the deck of your cabin or townhome; cozy up by the fireplace in the lodge, or sit by the shoreline; the sights and sounds of Lake Superior's North Shore are everywhere

The Beach
The Main Lodge is located on a gorgeous pebble beach where the Poplar River enters Lake Superior. Few guests resist the urge to walk down and sit on the beach.

Walking/Hiking
Lutsen Resort has spacious grounds with a variety of trails along the Poplar River and the lake. Guided hikes to nearby trails and scenic overlooks are provided to resort guest seasonally.

Fishing Vacation
Fish the Poplar River or shorecast into Lake Superior. Some truly wonderful fishing stories have originated here. Discounted Lake Superior Charter fishing is available to Lutsen Resort guests.

Whirlpool
Soak in a whirlpool at Lutsen Resort after a day of skiing. Both the Sea Villa Guest Services and the Main Lodge have large whirlpools - or enjoy an individual whirlpool in our Poplar River units.


Area Activities

Superior National Golf Course at Lutsen
Across Highway 61 from the resort, this spectacular 27 hole course is called "The Cadillac of Minnesota golf courses" by Explore Minnesota. Resort guests receive discounts on midweek greens fees, free access to the driving range and discounted golf lessons.

Downhill Skiing
There is just no comparison. Take any ski area in the Midwest. Lutsen Mountains is far larger and taller. In fact, three or four of them would fit into Lutsen with terrain to spare! Lutsen has the unique character of a western resort with long, sweeping runs and Mid-America's only gondola, providing real mountain skiing without the airfare. Simply put, nothing else compares to Lutsen Mountains. It's the Star of the North! A number of different skiing packages are available through Lutsen Resort, located 1 mile below the hill on Lake Superior.

The Gondola Skyride
The Gondola Skyride two mile round trip offers spectacular vistas from the highest point on the North Shore. Glide at tree top level through the Poplar River Valley and then climb to the summit of Moose Mountain 1000 feet above Lake Superior.

Cross Country Skiing Vacation
Minnesota's North Shore comes alive in the winter for cross country skiing enthusiasts enjoying Minnesota at its best. Relax in our pool after a day of skiing the more than 200 km of cross country trails that surround Lutsen. Cross country ski equipment is available to rent at Lutsen Resort

Alpine Slide
A comfortable chairlift ride to the summit of Eagle Mountain followed by a thrilling half mile sled run through dips and turns. A fun, exhilarating ride for all ages.

Mountain Biking
Lutsen's Mountain Bike Park offers you a whole new way to experience the thrill and beauty of the summer mountains along the North Shore. A combination of gravel roads, forest trails, and open ledge rock provide riding opportunities for a broad range of abilities.

Snowmobiling Trail
The North Shore of Minnesota provides hours of exciting riding for snowmobiling enthusiasts wanting to experience Minnesota at its best. Stay at Lutsen and travel the North Shore of Lake Superior on some of the state's premiere snowmobile trails.

Dog Sledding
Would you like to be a sled dog musher for a day? Sled Dog Adventures has taught mushing to Lutsen guests for twelve years. You can do it too! Trips depart from a kennel of over 100 Alaskan Huskies near Grand Marias. Experience a variety of trips from one to two hour rides to day-long or overnight adventures.
